Ratna Ling Volunteer Program

Ratna Ling Retreat Center, a non-profit intentional community in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, is dedicated to serving the welfare of others and cultivating work as a means to self-knowledge through a wide variety of projects both local and global.

Our faculty and staff consist entirely of full-time resident volunteers who work for one of three organizations on site, Yeshe De Text Preservation project, Dharma Publishing and, Ratna Ling Retreat Center.

Our volunteers utilize work as a vehicle for practicing for life. The Skillful Means teachings show us that we can use any work and life situation as a path of change. Personal growth is fostered through practicing self-awareness, caring, and taking responsibility as we work. By engaging situations without holding back, we learn that we create our own limitations and that we are capable of so much more than we thought we were.

Are you curious and creative? Do you love participating in a variety of activities, working in non-profit, team-oriented settings, and cooperating with others to accomplish a shared vision to bring goodness into the world? Ratna Ling may be the place for you!

We live and work in the redwood coastal hills of Sonoma County, CA. No religious affiliation is required to volunteer and we are seeking those with a strong work ethic. The initial commitment to this program is 6 months with a 4-week trial period. For those who find our community and lifestyle, a good fit longer-term commitments are possible.

Mission Statement

Ratna Ling Retreat Center’s mission is to offer education, healing, and spirituality to integrate into everyday life. Guided by the Tibetan Buddhist traditions, we aim to share what is best, most beautiful, and most meaningful in this precious human existence. Our name, "Ratna Ling" means "Land of Treasures". It is Rinpoche’s vision that the precious jewels of the teachings he brought to our country from a land far away, will touch hearts, open minds, and reveal the deep peace within that can be felt while staying in a place of gentle, natural beauty, supported by a spiritual community. Our purpose is to serve humanity by leading others toward wholeness and wellness on the path of Enlightenment. Our resident volunteers practice so that they may become guardians, protectors, and examples of this sacred wholeness and wellness.
