ORGANIZATION: COMPASSUS HOSPICE

Volunteers play a vital role in our care approach. They offer companionship and emotional support to our patients and families through the use of their time and talents. From college students to Veterans to family members who previously used our services, our volunteers come from every walk of life. Hospice volunteers work in their own community on a schedule that fits their availability. Volunteers provide some of the following services:
* Providing companionship
* Offering support to caregivers
* Sharing stories, memories, or hobbies
* Playing an instrument or listening to music
* Running errands
* Writing letters or answering email
* Providing massage (must hold current license)
* Offering Reiki
* Pet Therapy
* Delivering flowers and/or cards
* Conducting life review interviews which are recorded on DVD
* Making Memory Bears/Quilts
* Providing angel watch during the last hours of a patient’s life
* Helping with administrative work in the office
* Take part in Veteran to Veteran volunteering
* Offering bereavement support to families after the death of a loved one
* Participating in holiday gift delivery (seasonal)
