Title: Winter Childcare Assistant Volunteer
Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator
Hours and Times: Weekly-Monday-Thursday, 6:15pm-7:30pm
6:15pm-8:00pm* during January 2018
*Extended and additional Childcare hours may be needed on occasion for special events, programming adjustments, parties, and daytime tutoring.
Description: Almost Home offers weekly and monthly childcare opportunities for volunteers interested in working with children in a childcare setting. As a part of small group of volunteers, you will play, teach, and care for kids (between the ages of 6 months and 8 years old) while their moms attend life-skills class onsite. This position is available to everyone 18 years old or over, or 17 years old and with a guardian, and it is takes place Monday-Thursday from 6:15pm-7:30pm weekly. The position has flexible commitment requirements and can accommodate personal schedules including single monthly shifts. Hours for childcare are consistent throughout the year except during holidays special events, and unique programming.

Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older, or 16 years of age and accompanied by a guardian
- Must have previous childcare experience
- Must be willing to work with other volunteers to provide safe and fun environment for children
- Having a basic knowledge of sexual and domestic violence is helpful, but not mandatory, for the position
Tasks:
- Engage children in a fun and meaningful manner while also managing poor child behavior in respectful way (utilize "time-out" method effectively and efficiently)
- Adhere to Almost Home’s confidentiality terms and accurately follow agency’s safety procedures
- Act as a positive role model
- Keep the playroom clean and organized
- Communicate with other staff, volunteers, and clients in a clear and professional manner
- Support and maintain the vision and mission of Almost Home
