Attention animal-loving numbers people!
WearWoof is Pittsburgh's only upscale women's resale boutique using donated fashion and accessories to save the lives of homeless animals. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we provide funding and support to many local shelters and rescues for the care, shelter and adoption of homeless animals, low-cost and community cat spay-neuter programming, education and outreach and much more.
We are seeking an experienced bookkeeper for a volunteer postion with our animal welfare organization.
Duties would include keeping our books in Quickbooks online, administering bi-weekly payroll for our two employees, making our payroll and sales tax payments, paying bills and writing distribution checks, and providing reports. You would also work with our accountant to provide necessary info for annual charitable document filings including our 990.
The volunteer positon typically takes less than 5 hours per month and can be done from your home, though you will occasionally have to pop into our North Hills shop location for various duties.
Volunteer applicants must have at least an associate's degree in accounting or a related field, plus a minimum of three years of bookkeeping/accounts payables/related experience. Background check required.

WearWoof’s Mission is to establish Pittsburgh as the Middle Atlantic region’s most pet-friendly city by supporting the work of like-minded shelters, rescues and organizations in ending pet homelessness, providing resources and education for responsible pet ownership, and aiding the efforts of small, volunteer based local rescues through the consolidation of information, resources and support.
Description
WearWoof is not a shelter or rescue. We are an animal welfare organization that operates a women’s resale shop. Our goal is to support the work of approved shelters and rescues whose mission is aligned with ours. Although we support the efforts Pittsburgh area Shelter and Rescue Partners of all sizes, we are especially attentive to the needs of smaller rescues and shelters who are big on heart but low on resources. Proceeds from sales at the shop, as well as our other fundraising activities, are directed toward our Shelter and Rescue Partners. These Partners are local groups and organizations that must undergo an application and vetting process before being approved to receive WearWoof funding and support.
