*******************************************
Heartland Hospice is seeking kind, compassionate volunteers to be friendly visitors to our hospice patients. As a hospice volunteer, you will be an important part of the hospice team. You'll have the opportunity to be a friend to someone in need. Volunteers are the heart of hospice!
As a Friendly Visitor Volunteer, you can provide much-needed companionship by visiting with patients in their homes (or the facility they reside) and engaging in friendly conversation, reading to the patient, sharing hobbies, playing music, etc.
Our patients are located within a 50-mile radius of our office, so chances are there is a patient located close to you! Effort is made to place a volunteer with a patient located close-by to them. Time commitment is flexible; our volunteers can visit patients during daytime hours, during evenings (after work), or weekends.
Volunteers must complete a training with the Volunteer Coordinator, pass a background check, reference check, and complete a TB test (received on site, free of charge). Volunteers must be able to provide their own transportation. Patient care volunteers must be 18 years or older. No worries if you don't have any previous volunteer or hospice experience; all volunteers complete a thorough training before being assigned a patient and the Volunteer Coordinator will accompany you on your first volunteer visit, if that is what you wish.
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Heartland Hospice Volunteer, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Beth Argent at 804-288-0235 or Elizabeth.Argent@hcr-manorcare.com
