ORGANIZATION: Uhuru Pies

Black Star Industries

We're excited to tell you more about Uhuru Breakfast & Lunch booth at the Grand Lake Farmer's Market. This is a fun, fast-paced outdoor booth at the popular Grand Lake Farmer's Market across the street from the Grand Lake Theater happening every Saturday from 7 am to 3 pm (with produce, music, food vendors, kid's activities and more). Uhuru Foods serves breakfast wraps, egg platters and specials. Usually we need 5 - 6 people to cover 2 shifts: 7 am - 11:30 am and 11 to 3 pm.

Uhuru Foods & Pies is part of Black Star Industries, establishing an independent economy led by the black community, to create political and economic self reliance for African people in the bay area and worldwide.

We cook and serve egg scrambles, breakfast wraps and our very popular Green Goddess sandwich - pesto, mozzarella and greens on the famous Acme bread.

We are looking for volunteers from 7 to 11:30 am or 11am to 3pm. No experience necessary, just an interest in cooking and food service.

Uhuru Foods & Pies is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Black Star Industries, funding political and economic self reliance programs led by the African community. We are registered with Alameda county as an authorized opportunity for the completion of court mandated community service hours.

Complete your hours and support African community political and economic self reliance!
