Please visit the new page to apply.
With support by the Springfield Local Cultural Council and Make-It Springfield, The Springfield Book Crafters Fair is a first-time event, designed to create a community of people who are involved in creating their own books, journals, and zines. This fits well within Make-It Springfield’s goal of offering providing "a platform for community members of all backgrounds to learn new skills, build relationships & inspire each other."
The Fair will include a two morning workshops: One conducted by local author Crystal Senter Brown who has successful gone from self-publishing to film contract. The second one will feature cartoonist Kane Lynch, who will discuss his craft. The afternoon session is to be a mini "zine fest" of about 30 exhibitors and vendors. It will be open to the public from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
As one of our volunteers, you will be deeply involved in helping to build this event from the ground up. There will be opportunities to learn about marketing, fundraising, programming, and entrepreneurship, and creative place-making.
