Market day at the EHFM
Market day at the EHFM

This small farmers' market is looking for a volunteer to help stage arts activities for children on Monday afternoons. We're looking for somebody who is creative and engaging to teach children painting, crafts, or other arts projects. Ability to speak Spanish is a huge plus!

The Market is located in a tight-knit, friendly community and we're excited to be able to bring arts to the children there. However, we need your help! Please send us an email if you're interested and available. We prefer those who are able to commit to multiple Mondays in order to better build a relationship with the community.

About East Hollywood Certified Farmers' Market

Location:

5448 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028, US

Mission Statement

The East Hollywood Certified Farmers’ Market was created by Thai CDC to improve access to fresh affordable locally-grown fruits and vegetables and encourage healthy behavior among low-income and vulnerable populations in the underserved neighborhood of East Hollywood. It fulfills broader economic development and health promotion goals, such as:

  1. Promotes healthy communities and launch an ongoing Healthy Diet Campaign.
  2. Supports financial incentives (direct purchasing agreements with restaurateurs), marketing programs, and community-supported agriculture (CSA) that ensures the financial sustainability of farmers.
  3. Increases awareness of and access to local food programs and products that enable families to live healthier.

Description

The East Hollywood Certified Farmers’ Market (EHCFM) was created by Thai CDC to improve access to fresh fruit and vegetables in Thai Town/East Hollywood. It is located on the corner of Hollywood and Western, above the Hollywood/Western Red Line Metro Stop. The market is open every Thursday from 3:30 to 7:30, except for rainy days and holidays. This market takes EBT, WIC, FMNP, S-FMNP and WIC checks.

The EHCFM is a Certified market, meaning that farmers can only sell produce they’ve personally grown. That’s why the market doesn’t have any prepared food, only healthy fruit and vegetables. We believe in building connections between local farms and local residents and we do this by bringing the farmers to you.

The market is also home to the Market Match program. Any five dollars of EBT spent are matched with five extra market dollars. This match continues up to fifteen dollars. These market dollars are completely free and can only be spent at the market that day. This match also applies for customers with SSI. For customers in the Women, Infants and Children program, or WIC, up to twenty dollars can be matched at the market.
