Food Pantry volunteers needed-days and times are flexible.
A Greater Boston Catholic Charities food pantry is located in the basement of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, 1400 Washington Street, Boston. The entrance of the pantry is in the basement on the Msgr Reynolds Way side of the building.
On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays the pantry is open to clients from 9AM-2PM. Volunteers are needed to assist clients in the food pantry in selecting items from shelves, keep the pantry neat and orderly and complete other tasks as assigned. Morning and/or afternoon shifts are available and flexible to schedule. Additional language skills (other than English) are helpful but not required. Many clients are Mandarin speakers.
On Wednesdays and Fridays 9AM-11AM volunteers are needed to help unload the delivery from the Greater Boston Food Bank and restock the pantry shelves. Maintain a clearn space and remove and discard all packaging from restocking the shelves. This requires strength and mobility. Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs and walk up and down stairs.
Volunteers at Catholic Charities are required to: complete an application, have an interview and a criminal background check prior to scheduling your first volunteer shift. Volunteers report to the Basic Needs Coordinator.
