ORGANIZATION: Doctors for Global Health

  • 8 people are interested

We work with 6 of the Zapatista autonomous municipalities who have a very strong governing structure built around the Juntas de Buen Gobierno (Good Government Councils). The work consists of teaching health promoters and conducting public health work.

Physicians including senior residents have the opportunity to work in the local hospital.

Volunteers with experience in high school-level education as well as in agriculture, community health, and nutrition are needed.

There are possibilities for volunteers with interest (and better if with previous experience) in working in the communities. These volunteers need to be able to commit to at least 3 months. These volunteers help teach health promoters, participate in vaccination days and accompany th local physicians.

Description

Doctors for Global Health (DGH) is a private, not-for-profit organization promoting health, education, art and other human rights throughout the world. Our principles of action outline the basics of our organization's values.

DGH is comprised of hundreds of health professionals, students, educators, artists, attorneys, engineers, retirees and others.Together we build long-term relationships between people and communities around the world to find effective solutions to social justice issues.
