The Plainfield Area Humane Society (PAHS) is looking for a volunteer to join our Board of Trustees in the role of Treasurer. Our mission is to find a safe, loving and appropriate home for every homeless pet, including those with special needs or challenges. We strive to treat, heal and provide optimal well-being for the animals placed in our care; and to create an environment where our animals receive love, respect and attention.
Each year, we care for more than 500 animals in the local community. The Board of Trustees is for overseeing the operations, funds and property of PAHS. Trustees are actively involved in strategic planning and fundraising activities. The Board generally meets once per month, with individual committee meetings and/or conference calls held between the monthly board meetings as necessary.
The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining control and supervision of all funds of the Plainfield Area Humane Society, Inc. This will include, but not be limited to: bank accounts, investment accounts, accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Treasurer shall prepare financial reports for board meetings and chair the Finance Committee, overseeing the preparation of the Corporation’s annual budget. The Treasurer, along with the Chair of the Board and the Director of the Shelter, is authorized to sign all disbursements of funds as one of two co-signatories. The Treasurer will also assist the bookkeeper, tax preparer and auditor of the Shelter in the preparation of IRS filings (e.g. Form 990 and 300R) and other state and federal filings.
