Real progress toward a cure has been made, but the lives of young people with cystic fibrosis (CF) are still cut far too short. We urgently need the public’s continued support to fulfill our mission and help add tomorrows for those with the disease.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has raised and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help develop CF drugs and therapies. Through our efforts, the life expectancy of a child with CF has doubled in the last 30 years, and research to find a cure is more promising than ever before.
Year after year, volunteers make every GREAT STRIDES walk site both fun and successful. Their dedication has helped GREAT STRIDES become one of the most effective and efficient fundraising efforts.
There are many volunteer opportunities available, including photography, site set-up, event wrap-up, event registration, food service, course assistance, customer service, etc.
There is something for everyone! Here are the areas where we need your help:
Entertainment: We need someone to lead a Zumba warm up in the morning. Also, if you know any local dance/performance groups/characters/mascots that would be interested in our walk, please contact us!
Clean Up Help with breaking down tables, chairs, banners and more.
Registration Volunteers Collect walker pledge envelopes, register participants and hand out T-Shirts and route maps.
Greeters Direct participants to the right area and assist with filling out participant envelopes.
Walk Route Monitors Cheer our walkers along the route with pom-poms and noise makers. Keep them pumped up and motivated while walking. This volunteer position is great for groups!
Kid’s Korner Help make the day fun for kids with arts and crafts and other activities.
Route Marking Assist with marking walk route and setting up signage along the route.
Rest Stops Cheer walkers and hand out beverages at one of our rest stops along the route. This position is also great for groups!
Finish Line Volunteers Cheer on walkers as they come in and help set-up and breakdown the area.
Entertainers If you are a clown, magician, balloon artist or have another unique talent and would like to donate your time, please contact us.
Photographers We need photographers who can volunteer to take photos of teams, sponsors, start and finish line, route and celebration photos.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care. We will not rest until we find a cure for all people with cystic fibrosis.
Description
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is fueled by a dedicated group of scientists, caregivers, donors, volunteers and people with CF and their families who are united by a common goal: to find a cure for this devastating disease and help those with CF live longer, healthier lives.
ResearchWe fund more innovative, groundbreaking CF research than any other organization in the world. We have invested hundreds of millions of dollars into CF research and drug development. Because of our efforts, people with cystic fibrosis are living longer, healthier lives and pursuing dreams they never before thought possible.
CareWe provide expert care for people with CF through our nationwide network of accredited care centers. Cystic fibrosis is a complex disease that affects every person differently. That's why we're dedicated to helping people with CF get individualized care that's tailored to their unique needs.
SupportWe help people with cystic fibrosis and their families get the tools and support they need to lead healthy, productive lives, today. The incredible strides we're making in research and drug development mean nothing if people with CF don't have access to the care and therapies they need. We're working diligently to ensure all people with CF have access to the best medical, educational and financial resources available.
