About

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Within established policies and procedures, The Regional Disaster Duty Officer (RDDO) is the on-call operations lead for the American Red Cross in NH & VT. Their role is to ensure a timely and appropriate response to emergencies that occur within the region. The duty officer receives after-hours, weekend, and holiday calls from the answering service for emergencies that occur in the regional jurisdiction or when a neighboring regional group, partner organization or other entity is requesting mutual aid or other support. The RDDO will verify the type of event; disaster caused needs; and requests for assistance. Then the RDDO will determine the appropriate response and deploy appropriate chapter or regional resources to respond to the event. The RDDO will support the mobilization of necessary resources to meet the immediate needs of those affected by the event. When a non-recurrent event occurs within the region, the RDDO will initiate the response and then contact the Supervising Duty Officer.
