Día del Niño (Children's Day) is a celebration that originated in Mexico, and now is observed in many Latin American countries. Día del Niño focuses on the importance of loving, accepting and appreciating children. Masa will hold its 3rd Annual Día del Niño on Saturday, April 29th from 2-5 pm and we need your help!
We are looking for volunteers to support in various areas, including:
- Early Literacy: supporting young children and their parents with literacy and art activities.
- Art: conducting art activities with children of all ages
- Sign In: Signing in attendees (MUST speak Spanish for this role)
- Facilities and Operations: Assisting in overseeing the facility and ensuring it stays clean and safe
Volunteers must be able to volunteer on Saturday, April 29th from 12:45 - 5:30 pm. New volunteers will need to complete a volunteer application and reference check before beig placed at a station.

Mission Statement
The mission of Masa is to promote educational attainment, committed leadership and civic engagement among underserved students living in New York City with a particular focus on those of Mexican descent. Through a variety of civic and educational partnerships, Masa provides positive guidance and support for underserved youth and their families. We encourage program participants to strive to their fullest potential by setting and achieving academic goals in our tutoring and mentoring program. Furthermore, by fostering cultural and civic awareness, we empower a future generation of active and involved citizens.
Description
Masa provides after-school and mentorship services to students of Mexican descent living in or near the South Bronx. The organization relies heavily on the work of volunteers to serve the varied needs of students involved in the program.
