ORGANIZATION: Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest

  • 9 people are interested

LSS-SW resettles about 1,000 refugees fleeing war-torn countries. Volunteers help with at range of services that are vital in helping refugees get settled, and supporting our Refugee Focus staff to meet our mission. This volunteer role is intended to support our new weekly sewing instruction class that is part of our Childcare and Women’s Empowerment Program.

Volunteer will provide child-minding while parents are on-site attending a sewing instruction class, as well as a variety of Refugee Focus events such as Tucson Cultural Orientation, Employment Orientation or other learning opportunities.

Volunteer must be comfortable taking care of and working with small children, and may bring their own children with them to join refugee children during the training activities. Because volunteers would be working directly with clients from vulnerable populations, a fingerprint clearance card is required.

Child-minding is needed for sewing instruction every Monday, from 9-12 pm. Times of other activities may vary.

Interested volunteers should fill out our application online: http://bttr.im/vhj24
