The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Furkids Dog Shelter, located in Alpharetta, depends on a family of volunteers in a myriad of roles to keep its doors open and to find dogs forever homes. If you have a talent, we can use it! From cleaning kennels and laundry to walking and bathing dogs, from greeting customers at the front desk to driving dogs to offsite adoption events and vet visits, from photography and graphic art skills to knowing how to fix plumbing and dog transport vans, we have something you can help us with!
We ask volunteers to volunteer for at least 6 hours a month, and to be willing to help with all that is needed, and to schedule their shifts with the volunteer manager.
Volunteers must be at least 18 to work with the dogs. Contact Volunteer Manager to see what openings are needed; there is a $20 volunteer orientation fee that includes the volunteer t-shirt you'll wear at the shelter.
