Share your passion for Lincoln Park! The Lincoln Park Conservancy and the Chicago Park District are seeking individuals to participate in the docent program at the Lincoln Park Conservatory and Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool.

Docents foster a greater appreciation and understanding of these beautiful Lincoln Park sites by acting as interpretive volunteers and tour guides, welcoming visitors from around the world. The Lincoln Park Conservatory is a treasured Victorian glass house with collections of tropical plants and a show house, all surrounded by two historic gardens and the architecturally stunning Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, which itself is home to a variety of local wildlife.

Docents experience six weeks of training in the art of interpretation, history of Lincoln Park, horticulture, landscape design, urban nature, and more. Docents volunteer primarily on weekends, with some weekday opportunities. Training is offered twice a year, once in spring for incoming Lily Pool docents and once in the fall for incoming Conservatory docents. Continuing education, field trips, and social activities are offered beyond training as well. If you love history, nature, and Chicago’s Lincoln Park, this could be the opportunity for you!

If you’re interested in joining our team of more than 85 docents, please contact us for more information.
