Mission Statement

Awaken Arts, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization established in 2009. We use the arts as a healing tool for people that have been through traumatic experiences. Our mission is to provide a unique, artistic environment that fosters creative expression and collaboration, because we believe that when we create together, we heal together.

Description

We have mulitiple arts programs that help people create using various art forms to help them express their feelings and heal from past trauma. Our Catalyst Program is a 4 day program where we take volunteer mentors to Sunburst Youth Academy, a residentail facility for at-risk youth. Each day we delve into themes of past, present, and future using our different art mediums. In the last week of the program the Mentees will be given a choice to share what they have learned in a show, with their fellow participants.

Each program is catered to foster collaboration and creativity. We want each participant to feel like they are part of a community with shared stories and help them aleviate the feelings of isolation and loneliness as most of us feel when we are dealing with difficulty in life. We teach the participants how to use the arts to create something productive instead be destructive in their daily lives.

We hope that you partner with us and make a differenece in the lives of at-risk youth, veterans and disaster survivors that we serve.
