Texas Kids Read gives books to students to children in Title 1 schools. Right now we are working with twoelementary schools. They have 800 students and we gave them 9,000 books during the last two school years and we are on track to do the same this year. To achieve this we need volunteers to help sort and clean donated books. No training is needed, we will teach you everything you need to know.
A light dinner will be served beforehand so please let us know if you have any food allergies.

Supporting early childhood literacy.
Description
Texas Kids Read (formally The Literacy Plus Project) gives books to students in Title 1 schools to encourage them to read. We give them 5-8 books just before the Summer break in an effort to keep them at their current reading level when they return to school in August.
Our volunteers clean the books that are donated and we recieve 90% of our books thru donations.
