Do you want to change the life of a child? If you do, volunteering with the LFCFF is the organization for you!
The Lydia Faith Cox Family Foundation (LFCFF) is a St. Louis-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, all volunteer organization. Our mission is to foster a life of accomplishment and independence for individuals with developmental disorders or other special needs. We do this through our annual Lydia Cox Memorial Bike Camp, where we teach children how to ride a 2-wheel bike independently, through the iCan Bike program.
Campers, 8 years and older, are assigned a 75-minute riding session for each of the five days of camp.
We are looking for volunteers to walk/jog/run alongside camp participants. This is truly an inspiring and rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child with a developmental difference. We need up to 100 volunteers to make this camp a success. Individuals interested in volunteering must be at least 15 years old and able to walk/jog/run alongside a rider as they are learning to ride a bike during a 75-minute session (with short breaks), for 5 days Monday through Friday. Our volunteers provide encouragement and physical supports, as needed. Volunteers can sign up for one session, or up to 5 each day. Consistency is our goal for volunteers. We ask that a volunteer commit to the same time each day and attend all 5 days for the session selected. Our riders bond with their assigned volunteer and rely on the same person to be there to support them during the riding session. This is an unique opportunity to be the miracle in a childÅ› life. An experience you will never forget!
