Position Title: Animal Care (Reptiles)
Position Description: The Education department is looking for a volunteer to come in each week and help take care of our collection of educational reptiles. We currently have eight reptiles who require substantial care each week. Care includes feeding, bathing, cleaning tanks, changing out water, monitoring health of reptiles, enrichment, walking the turtles, keeping accurate records, and maintaining the animal rooms. To volunteer in this position, you must be comfortable with all sort of reptiles, including snakes.
Purpose: To help the Education department care for the Greenway’s educational animals.
Location: Nature Center.
Time Commitment: We are looking for someone who can come in 2-3 times a week for 2-3 hours per day. This role can be done by two people and then the time commitment would be less.
Training: Will be provided.
Qualifications: Comfortable with all sorts of reptiles. Calm demeanor around reptiles.
Reports to: Sara Lee, Environmental Educator, 803.547.1086.
Dress code: Volunteer shirt, appropriate pants and closed-toe shoes.

Description
Leroy Springs & Company has been providing recreational and educational opportunities to the communities surrounding Springs Industries facilities for over 60 years. In 1995, the Anne Springs Close Greenway, a 2,100 acre nature preserve in Fort Mill, South Carolina, was dedicated to the public to serve as a natural buffer from urban development and a place for countless activities - from hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, to picnics, kayaking and more.
The land was donated by the children of Anne Springs Close to honor her lifelong commitment to recreation and the environment. The Greenway is a not-for-profit entity which receives no ongoing tax dollars to build, maintain or operate its programs, trails and facilities. Owned and managed by Leroy Springs & Company, the Greenway is funded in part by memberships, program fees and generous donations from individuals and corporations.
