ORGANIZATION: THE WHY YOU INITIATIVE [YU?]

The duties of a [YU?] Strategy Team member is broad in scope by design, but members usually serve as a main mentor or on a mentoring team. Many strategy team members provide developmental workshops and/or panel discussions at our biannual confab and/or webinar series. A select few of our strategy team members provide internship/research experiences for our students and young professionals or assist the students in attaining an internship/research experience. All of our strategy team members assist with keeping the organization financially sound through personal gifts and capital campaign fundraising. Finally, our members also help with exam preparations, study habits and all things related to academic and professional progress.

Mission Statement

To eradicate barriers to students and young professionals’ success by effectively delivering longitudinal support via a fusion of technological and traditional mediums.

Description

[YU?] is a nonprofit organization devoted primarily to helping underrepresented high school students, post-high school students, undergraduate students, graduate students and young professionals with their academic and professional endeavors by providing a longitudinal centralized support system, including substantive, sustained and quality mentoring based on qualitative and quantitative empirical assessments and best practices. We currently serve young students and young professionals in 15 states via a fusion of technological and traditional mediums. Our organization’s volunteers are young doctors, lawyers, social scientists, educators, researchers, business owners and community leaders who have a zeal for delivering longitudinal support that empowers young students and professionals to succeed.

We pride ourselves on inspiring and assisting college-age young adults in our communities to attend a 4-year college, technical school and/or public service academy (i.e. police, fire or paramedic) to gain the teleological acumen and prowess necessary to contribute affirmatively to society.
