The Regional Environmental Council, Inc. (REC) is a grassroots, nonprofit, environmental and food justice organization with a 45-year history of working for environmental sustainability and social justice.
Our 28th Annual Earth Day Cleanups is a citywide cleanup of parks, gardens, and neighborhoods involving more than 1,000 volunteers who will pick up more than 50 tons of trash at more than 60 locations throughout Worcester.
WHEN: Saturday, April 8th: 8am - 12pm
WHAT (Volunteers): Join a group or create your own! Choose a work site within Worcester or pick your own! We'll provide you with the materials to clean up a location in Worcester, and you provide the labor (we'll be around town picking up trash, too). Great opportunity for service groups!
WHAT (Site Coordinators): Know a place in Worcester to clean up? Have a group of people willing to volunteer? Suggest your location and become a site coordinator!
MUST-HAVES:
An interest in environmentalism and cleaning up Worcester!
Transportation to the site you choose or are assigned to
Ability to rake leaves and pick up trash
HELPFUL:
Ability to squat, bend over repeatedly, and stand and walk for lengthy stretches of time
