To ensure that MDA Summer Camp is a safe and enjoyable experience for our campers, we pair each of our approximately 65 campers with a trained volunteer counselor for the week. MDA also provides a comprehensive medical team that includes, but is not limited to, neurologists, nurses, and physical and respiratory therapists.

The medical staff’s role is to supervise and help maintain the health and well-being of our campers who deal with daily medical challenges and often require special care. MDA summer camps like ours can’t function without the expertise of on-site medical staff team members who generously volunteer their time for the week.

Medical staff volunteers are required to fill out our MDA Volunteer Medical Staff Application, consent to a background check and complete a thorough interview process. Once all requirements have been met, we will invite medical staff to camp for all or part of the week (depending on your schedule/availability). For consistency of care, we prefer that people are able to stay at camp all week, but the nature of medical work does not always allow for this and accommodations can be made.

If you have a specific question please email Allison at ABrown@mdausa.org
