May is for Mulching Madness!
WHAT: Volunteers will mindfully spread mulch around all of the young native plants, to help keep the invasive species at bay, retain soil moisture, and give the young native plants more time to become established. Hearty snacks and beverages will keep volunteers well fueled throughout this important work! NPS will supply gloves and tools for this family-friendly event. No prior experience is necessary.
Bonus: The preserve has several gorgeous trails to explore, so plan a little extra time for a short hike, and bring binoculars if you enjoy bird-watching!
WHEN: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Come when you can, stay as long as you like!
WHERE: Mulching madness will be at Capitol Land Trust's beautiful Darlin Creek Preserve: Please register to receive directions and details

Description
The Native Plant Salvage Foundation is a non-profit organization that is guided by a volunteer board of directors, and supported by a small but mighty crew of volunteers, supporters, educators and community partners.
As our name implies, we salvage native plants during the winter months at sites that are soon to be developed. Our programs also expand far beyond our winter salvages. We operate a holding beds for salvaged plants and nursery where we offer propagation workshops regularly. Our work also includes restoration activities as well as education and outreach in the fields of Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GIS), school programs, plant identification classes, and sustainable landscaping.
