Seattle BrainWorks (SBW) is a community based organization that offers support and skill building for individuals with traumatic brain injury. Participants are encouraged and assisted to fulfill their individual goals and pursuits in a safe and supportive community. BrainWorks offers vocational programs, independent living skill programs and personal and educational enrichment opportunities.

SBW is looking for a volunteer to assist our members at a local food bank. On the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month from 9am to 1pm SBW members will volunteer at the North Helpline Food Bank in the Lake City/North Seattle area. As a "secondary volunteer," you would support BrainWorks' members by securing a spot in the distribution line for clients, working side-by-side and/or supporting them in the food bank line, and acting as a liason between Seattle BrainWorks and the food bank while on site.

Responsibilities include: Getting to know and familiarizing yourself with Seattle BrainWorks clients; create adaptive solutions to assist clients with their task/position; and assist clients with paperwork related to their experience that day. Although you would technically be acting as a food bank volunteer, your main responsibility would be to support the Seattle BrainWorks clients in their volunteer roles. The minimum requirements that SBW is looking for in volunteers are at follows: Volunteers are available at least 1 day a week with at least a 3 month commitment. The day and amount of time you choose is flexible.

There is also room for more volunteering opportunities with Seattle BrainWorks on site if you are interested in learning more about the food bank or other opportunities please feel free to reach out to us directly.

SBW's hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm. We are NOT open on weekends or evenings.

Mission Statement

Supporting People with Disabilities to Fulfill Their Life Choices.

Description

At PROVAIL, we see a world where all people live life based on their own choices and we work toward a community that maximizes accessibility and inclusion of all. We are dedicated to the three focus areas; Mobility & Communication, Employment, and Home & Lifestyle. Through these areas, PROVAIL supports people with disabilities to access the tools and technology they need to communicate and interact with their community, obtain community-based paid employment, and gain access to the home and lifestyle options of their choice.

Our programs meet critical needs and address gaps in services for the disability community. We provide services for children, youth, and adults with a broad-range of disabilities - including those with complex support needs, for whom service options and resources are often limited.
