Mission Statement
Engineers Without Borders -- San Francisco Professional Chapter ( EWB- SFP) supports community-driven development programs worldwide through the design and implementation of sustainable engineering projects and fostering responsible leadership. Our vision is a world in which all communities have the capacity to meet their basic human needs.
Description
Engineers Without Borders - San Francisco Professionals (EWB-SFP) was established in 2004 as the first professional chapter of EWB-USA. EWB isn't just for engineers. We want enthusiastic volunteers who believe in EWB-USA's mission to help partner with developing communities to improve their quality of life through the implementation of environmentally sustainable, equitable, and economical engineering projects while developing internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.
Our chapter has over 100 members and is currently involved with the implementation of projects around the world that are focused on improving the quality of life in developing countries and communities. Our teams partner with communities in Kenya, Fiji, Haiti, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras to build clean water systems, bridges, and composting toilets for residents. We hold general chapter meetings with guest speakers from EWB projects and outside organizations doing work on sustainable development and appropriate technology. We also have annual fundraising events to raise funds and awareness for projects and promote the EWB community in the Bay Area. If you would like to join a team or donate to EWB-SFP, please visit our website.
