pecial Olympics Florida will host the 2017 Area 11 Tennis Games on Saturday, April 1st at the University of Miami!

Over 100 Special Olympics Athletes will compete in tennis for the opportunity to advance to Special Olympics Florida State Summer Games at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Volunteers are needed to help with the following:
- Set-up: help put up signage, set-up tables, set-up the courts and more
- Volunteer Registration: help check-in all volunteers, distribute t-shirts and volunteer directions
- Athlete Check-In/Score Center: help register all of our athletes and coaches, then assist with tabulating score sheets
- Tennis Volunteers with experience: help keep score during tennis matches & individual skills stations, run tennis individual skills stations
- Tennis Volunteers without experience: help escort groups of athletes through tennis stations, monitor courts, pick up tennis balls, assist score keepers and more
- Awards: help prepare awards for our athletes, organize and run the awards ceremony
- Olympic Village: Athletes will visit the Olympic Village when they are not competing. Help run fun booths in our Olympic Village (ex: games, face painting, etc.)
- Lunch & Water Distribution: Help distribute lunch to all volunteers, coaches and athletes, replace water coolers and make sure athletes remain hydrated
- Volunteer Check-out & Breakdown: Provide volunteers with service hours when they check-out. Help us breakdown the event.

Description
The ultimate goal of Special Olympics is to help persons with intellectual disabilities participate as productive and respected members of society at large, by offering them a fair opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and talents through sports training and competition, and by increasing the public’s awareness of their capabilities and needs.
