If you love working with children, have a passion for art, and want to give back to the community, Go van Gogh (r) is the volunteer program for you! Go van Gogh summer outreach volunteers lead experiences in Dallas-area public libraries, recreation centers, and boys & girls clubs that encourage students to look closely at works of art and express their creativity through art-making activities.
Summer programs are one hour in length and consist of an interactive presentation featuring images from the Museum's collection followed by a hands-on art activity. Programs are scheduled Monday-Friday at either 10:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. at sites across Dallas. Summer outreach volunteers are expected to team teach two programs per month from June to mid-August. Supply pick-up and drop-off will be coordinated in advance of each program. Volunteers must provide their own transportation to and from program sites. Bilingual language skills are a plus, but are not required to participate; however, volunteers should be prepared to use some Spanish vocabulary words as part of the lesson plan.
Interested volunteers must attend two mandatory training sessions on Friday, June 1, and Friday, June 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in order to participate. A one-hour lunch break is included. All Go van Gogh volunteers must undergo a two-part screening process including free DISD volunteer registration and a $17 self-paid background check through Verified Volunteers.
Applications will be accepted through Friday, May 18. If you have questions about the Go van Gogh volunteer program, please email volunteers@DMA.org. Please use this link to apply: https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?ap=2050386789.
