The Restoring Family Links team of The American Red Cross works tirelessly to reconnect familes who have been separated by armed conflict, natural disaster, or migration. We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help work with clients to do this crucial casework. This includes research, answering our helplline, and interacting with displaced persons, refugees, and families.

We are looking for long term volunteers because of the thorough nature of our training process.

This volunteer position will be based out of our downtown DC office.

Armed conflict, international disasters and migration leave millions of people around the globe in urgent need of humanitarian assistance every year. As a truly worldwide network, the volunteers of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent are able to help families reconnect.

Description

The American Red Cross helps reconnect loved ones separated internationally when:

  • Families have been separated internationally as a result of conflict, disaster, migration or other humanitarian emergency.
  • Families have tried normal channels of communication to reconnect.
  • The family member making the inquiry is able to provide essential information on the sought person.
  • The family member making the inquiry is a relative, who had been in direct contact with the sought person before the crisis occurred.
The Reconnecting Family Links program is a free and confidential service. We work with you to search for and locate your family and loved ones.
