Volunteers needed to support ASMU 2017! Most shifts are during lunch time!
What is ASMU? ASMU stands for After School Matters University. This four-day event put on by After School Matters provides freshmen and sophomore high school teens with an opportunity to explore, engage and learn about the college experience. Teens will participate in workshops that touch on choosing a major, campus life, resume writing, money managment, and a host of other topics. Teens will also participate in discussion panels and a college tours tailored to their individual interests.
What will volunteers do at ASMU? ASMU Ambassador Volunteers will help with the following duties:
- Pre-Program Support
- Meal Support
- Campus Tours
- Culminating Event Support
Thursday, April 6, 2017 (Pre-Program Support)
2:00pm-4:00pm - 3 volunteers needed
- Assemble facilitator binders;
- Distribute program schedules;
- Assemble program packets;
- Assist wtih signage; and
- Assist wtih classroom/work space decor
Monday: 11:30am-1:30pm - 2 volunteers needed
- Meal Support: Organize & distribute lunches, and facilitate clean-up
Tuesday: 11:30am-1:30pm - 2 volunteers needed
- Meal Support: Organize & distribute lunches, and facilitate clean-up
Wednesday: 11:30am-1:30pm - 2 volunteers needed
- Meal Support: Organize & distribute lunches, and facilitate clean-up
Thursday: 3 Different Time Shifts
- Campus Tours (chaperones) - 8:40am-1:00pm - 4 volunteers needed
- Meals Support - 1:00pm-2:30pm -2 volunteers needed
- Culminating Event Support - 2:00pm-5:00pm - 2 volunteers needed
Location: Gallery 37 Center for the Arts -- 66 East Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60601
Requirements:
- Must feel comfortable interacting with teens, staff, and volunteers
- Must be able to stand for duration of shift
- Must complete online volunteer application & agreement forms
- Must complete initial background check screening
