Restorative Justice Panels come together once a month in Winooski to see cases referred to us from the police department, rapid intervention community court, etc. It operates under the belief that crime is a violation of people and relationships, with the goal of repairing the harm done. Volunteers work with victims and offenders to come to an agreement about how the responsible party can make amends to the people and communities affected by their actions, and learn ways to avoid re-offense.
We're looking particularly for people who are involved in the Winooski community. Panels meet on one Tuesday per month for 1-2 hrs. Background check required. We will train volunteers in restorative practices and panels.
