Love cats? Want to help play and socialize our kitties (and clean their litter boxes...) before they go to their forever homes? This is your opportunity!!
Please fill out the following volunteer application so we know how to contact you, what you're interested in and you are properly registered: https://tailsct.z2systems.com/projectList.jsp
Here's a little history.... In March 2017, TAILS moved into the 4-unit, cat adoption space at the Petco-Westport located at 1850 Post Road East(next to Michaels & Home Goods). Each day we go visit our furry charges and clean their litter, feed them, play with them and give them some general loving! We have three daily shifts to help make sure the kitties have lots of opportunity to be played with - and we need help! We are hoping for 60-90 minutes (or more!) of your time during one of these daily shifts: 9-2pm, 2-5pm, 5-9pm M-Sat, 9-2 or 2-6 Sunday. Note: you don't have to go the entire shift - it's 90 or so minutes during that shift. Whether you can commit to one night a week or once every other week (or once/month?) - that would be great! It's easy and you really are making a difference!
Cat caretaking must be done during the store's hours (9am-9pm, M-S, 10-6 on Sun); we ask that you arrive at least one hour before the store closes if you are on the last TAILS shift (times noted in the paragraph above) of the day. Mandatory requirments: 1) fill out volunteer form (link below), 2) Volunteer orientation (30 minute orientation at store; you will be contacted once you sign up). All supplies are provided. To sign up for one of our orientations, fill out the vol form and sing up here:

We welcome responsible children as volunteers if accompanied by an adult and teens, based on successful completion of a probation period (and parental signature), can volunteer solo/pairs. Please note: we also have the same opportunity at the Petco in Norwak Petco next to located at 431 Westport Ave, Norwalk (across from Staples and Marshalls).
The mission of T.A.I.L.S. is to serve the community as a charitable organization that promotes spay/neutering of animals and provides financial support to humane organizations and individuals in pursuit of this goal. We are dedicated to vigorously promoting and educating the community about the importance of spay/neuter to reduce, and eventually elimnate, the killing of unwanted dogs, cats, and other animals.
Put simply, TAILS funds and promotes spaying and neutering in Fairfield County to save thousands of dogs and cats from being born into a world of already overflowing shelters. Formed in 2001, TAILS has grown each year thanks to the many volunteers who have come out and made our events successful. A tax exempt, 501(c)3 we welcome anyone who cares about our furry friends to come out and help us make a difference for dogs and cats! Thanks!
In November 2014, we took over the cat adoption space at the Petco-Norwalk location at 650 Main Ave (next to WalMart and Staples) in addition to housing and fostering dogs/puppies whenever we could. So although our mission is focused on spaying/neutering the problem of animal overpopulation (especially when it comes to the kittens and friendly cats we come across in our Trap-Neuter-Return programs) has given way to our moving into saving our furry friends through adoption programs. Make no mistake - we are still focused on spay/neutering - full year 2014 we spay/neutered 197 dogs and cats! - but we just need more folks to help us with the actual care of dogs/cats as the need grows. Can you help? We would simply love it.
