Mission Statement

Lead Up connects youth to college and career. Through the power of mentoring, peer leadership and academic support, we transform the lives of underrepresented students who become drivers of economic development and growth. In partnership with Nebraska Wesleyan University and North Star High School.

Description

Lead Up is a Lincoln-based nonprofit that provides pathways for communities to invest in their own prosperity by building dynamic networks that connect youth to college and career. Through these powerful networks, students receive academic support, college preparation, and leadership development thus bridging the critical gap between academic learning and success in college and career.

Lead Up, in collaboration with North Star High School and Nebraska Wesleyan University, prepares underrepresented students to graduate from high school and successfully enter college through academic support, family engagement, and college admissions activities. However, Lead Up combines these best practices in college preparation with a collaborative, community approach to workforce readiness that bridges the gaps between learning, success in college, and career. Our program is an innovative approach to encouraging academic achievement for underrepresented youth, giving them networks of success to launch into a career, helping strengthen Lincoln’s workforce, and creating a vibrant community.
