You can gain valuable hands-on nonprofit event planning and volunteer coordination experience. The Event Planning Intern will primarily work with Volunteer Center staff to plan, execute, and evaluate River Rally, Community Thread’s summer signature service initiative. The intern will also support other Community Thread programs and events, such as Stuff the Bus and Summer Stretch. Use your event planning skills to support Community Thread!

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate event logistics for River Rally including volunteer recruitment and management
  • Assist in managing pre-registration and on-site volunteer registration
  • Help secure equipment, set-up, and tear-down as needed
  • Conduct evaluation of events, including writing a post-event report, survey, and thank you messages
  • Assist in the creation of event marketing and promotional materials based on marketing timeline (i.e. posters, press releases, and social media content)
  • Other event planning and communications responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational ability and planning skills
  • Demonstrated community engagement skills
  • Experience in working with social media sites and communications tasks
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with good judgment
  • Team-oriented work style and effective interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to ask questions and receive feedback
  • Minimum 2 years of college completed

Time Commitment:

  • 8-15 hours/week; 12 week minimum commitment
  • Flexible hours between 9 am-4 pm; Monday-Friday (occasional evenings may be required)
  • Must be available for River Rally in July 2017, specific date TBD
