Do you have experience presenting and/or facilitating groups? Want to use your area of expertise with adults experiencing temporary homelessness? Be a Life Skills Instructor and provide our residents with the tools they need to move toward self-sufficiency and success in the community!
Life Skills Instructors lead training sessions for residents at Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter to help them build the skills they need to successfully transition into permanent housing and reach their full potential.
Develop and prepare lesson plans to lead small group life skills training sessions. Topics include rent readiness, computer skills, budgeting, stress management, employment training, self-care, etc.
Lead interactive sessions on selected life skills topic.
Encourage participants to ask questions, share during discussions, engage in hands-on activities related to the life skills topic.
We offer Life Skills sessions to shelter residents on weekday mornings between 9am and 12pm. Join us weekly, twice a month, or monthly.
For more information, please contact Meagan Perkins, Community & Volunteer Engagement Specialist, at 703-820-7621 or mperkins@nvfs.org.
