You can help change the lives of children with cancer and thir siblings! SunriseWALKS is a graet opportunity to show your support for Sunrise Day Camp - Staten Island, the only full-summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings offered free of charge!
More than a walk, SunriseWALKS is an event filled live music, face painting, carnival games, prizes and more. Enjoy walking side by side with Sunrise campers and connecting with a community of people who share your cause. This will undoubtedly be one of the most rewarding days of your life, so children with cancer and their siblings can have the best summer of theirs.
We are looking for volunteers in numerous areas:
Pre-Walk Activities: Parking, arts & crafts, face painting, breakfast and more...
Course Volunteers: Motivate walkers, distribute water, direct walkers along various paths... Great opportunity for school/sports teams, youth clubs.
Finish Line Celebration: Run carnival games and booths, operate food and beverage carts, distribute goody bags and more ...

Mission Statement
The mission of the Sunrise Association is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings world-wide, through the creation of Sunrise Day Camps, Year-Round Programs and In-Hospital Recreational Activities, all offered free of charge.
Description
Providing memorable summers since 2006 for children ages 31/2-16, Sunrise Day Camps bring the simple pleasures of childhood back to children struggling with cancer, changing months of loneliness and isolation into summers filled with sunshine, laughter and happiness. And because Sunrise is a day camp, it does all this while allowing the children to continue their medical treatment and enjoy the comfort and safety of their own homes at night. There are currently four Sunrise Day Camps - two in New York (on Long Island & in Pearl River) and two in Israel (Even Yehuda & Be’er Sheva). In 2016, two new camps will open in Staten Island, NY, and Baltimore, MD. Sunrise Day Camps are affiliated with 25 renowned hospitals and medical centers. Sunrise Sundays and Fun-days offer children exciting activities and events when school is not in session; Sunrise on Wheels is a one-of-a-kind program that provides hours of Sunrise-fun to children undergoing treatment in pediatric oncology units of participating hospitals.
