Volunteer with the Stewardship Team on April 22nd, Spring Citywide Stewardship Day! Tree care and stewardship are critical steps to ensuring the survival of our urban forest! Volunteers will be removing invasive species such as knotweed, mugwort, and porcelain berry which threaten the otherwise healthy forest. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. Please bring your own water bottle. Space is limited and registration is required for this event.

Idlewild Park, Queens - 149th Avenue & Springfield Lane
Inwood Hill Park, Manhattan - Seaman Avenue & Isham Street
Raoul Wallenberg Forest, Bronx - W235th Street & Douglas Avenue

The Stewardship Program is a service program that recruits, trains, and supports volunteers for ecological projects across the city. You can help keep New York City’s forests, wetlands, and coastlines thriving. Join us to plant trees, shrubs, and grasses; restore our forests; care for street tree beds; and remove debris from our wetlands.

What We Offer
You’ll be led by an experienced staff that provides all of the tools and equipment needed to properly care for our natural areas. Get hands-on, educational experience in some of the most beautiful and diverse habitats throughout NYC!
Who Should VolunteerOur volunteer program is for anyone who loves nature. We can accommodate local organizations, individuals, corporations, "voluntourists," schools, universities and visiting service organizations. We welcome a wide range of experience levels, abilities, and group sizes.
