Abolishing poverty one relationship at time. Being an Ally with CrossPurpose is about more than just volunteering - it's about reweaving the fabric of a frayed society.

Everything we do is focused on one mission: Neighborhoods Without Poverty. Our 6 month career development program is designed to train, educate, and equip motivated individuals to exit financial poverty. Our goal is for them to find a career path leading to earnings of $18 an hour or more with advancement opportunities. By covering education/training costs, offering monthly stipends and earned income matches, and providing one-on-one support, we believe our neighbors have what it takes to overcome barriers and create change for themselves and our communities.

However, we've discovered there is no significant change without significant relationship. Therefore, each of the participants is paired with an Ally - a friend, support, and accountability partner to walk with them on their journey to self-sufficiency. These allies recognize their own ability to both contribute and learn in their relationship with the participant. The journey out of poverty is difficult, but individual support is one of the greatest indicators of success.

Are you willing to walk alongside someone who is in pursuit of financial freedom?

If so, we would love for you to become an Ally!

Allies are individuals who are dedicated to empowering and supporting program participants on their journey to financial freedom. Allies are countercultural, gritty, and knowledgeable helpers who are seeking to abolish poverty one relationship at a time. During your 10-month commitment, you will be a friend, not a mentor as we believe the relationship is mutual and both the Ally and the Leader can grow and Learn from one another.

We meet on Wednesday evenings for 6:00pm-8:00pm for food, fun and friendship. Dinner and childcare is provided at most events. We ask Allies to commit to 6 months of weekly attendance on Wednesday evenings, in order to walk alongside our Leaders from the start of their journey until graduation day!

If you are interested in this opportunity, we are accepting Allies for our Spring Class (begins on April 27th) and our Summer Class (July 20th). Please email our Volunteer Team at to schedule a phone call and/or campus visit.

Mission Statement

To abolish economic, spiritual, and relational poverty through career and community development.

Our tuition-free, six-month career training
program aims to empower individuals
in Denver to develop the personal and
professional skills that they need to
succeed in the workplace. We offer a

variety of career certification and pre-
apprenticeship tracks to provide a wide

selection of career opportunities.
Our program participants are called
Leaders, because we believe that every
individual is the leader of their own
change. We aren’t the hero, we are
simply here to provide the personal,
professional, and community resources to
help our neighbors succeed. In addition to
emphasizing growth in economic capital,
we believe in the power of developing
spiritual and relational capital.

We believe that no significant change
happens without significant relationships. By
completing our program, our Leaders gain far
more than career skills. We surround them
with caring staff, community volunteers, and
fellow leaders in order to build long-lasting
relationships that go beyond our program.
Ultimately, the love of God is what compels
us to care for our neighbors and will offer
them the greatest gift they could ever
