At the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, volunteers contribute their unique talents, skills, and life experiences to help further the mission of the museum. We have many opportunities for volunteers ranging from museum tour guides to oral history transcribers, and everything in between. You do not need to have a degree in history, what you need is an enthusiasm for your work, a willingness to learn, and the commitment of your time.
Some areas for possible volunteer experiences are:
School Tour Guides: lead tours for grades 4-12 as well as adults. Tours last one hour and are scheduled Tuesday through Friday from 9-3. Occasionally, there are tours on Saturdays as well.
Archives Assistant: complete short and long-term projects organizing collections in the research center. This position is only available during the week.
Oral History: the oral history program is looking for transcribers, editors, and interviewers. This position is only available during the week
All volunteers will receive training, the length of which depends on the volunteer position. For any questions, please contact Amber Coombes-Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
*While we are searching for long term volunteers, short term volunteers are also welcome. However, we request a minimum of a 6 month commitment as training for tours is conducted.
