At the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, volunteers contribute their unique talents, skills, and life experiences to help further the mission of the museum. We have many opportunities for volunteers ranging from museum tour guides to oral history transcribers, and everything in between. You do not need to have a degree in history, what you need is an enthusiasm for your work, a willingness to learn, and the commitment of your time.
Some areas for possible volunteer experiences are:
School Tour Guides: lead tours for grades 4-12 as well as adults. Tours last one hour and are scheduled Tuesday through Friday from 9-3. Occasionally, there are tours on Saturdays as well.
Oral History: the oral history program is looking for transcribers. This position is only available during the week
All volunteers will receive training, the length of which depends on the volunteer position. For any questions, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at visitor.curator@dva.wisconsin.gov.
*While we are searching for long term volunteers, short term volunteers are also welcome. However, we request a minimum of a 6 month commitment as training for tours is conducted.

The Wisconsin Veterans Museum is an educational activity of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs to commemorate, acknowledge, and affirm the role of Wisconsin citizens in American military history, past and present.
Description
The museum is much more than a building located on the capitol square in Madison, it is an educational package consisting of exhibits, living histories, informational programs and speakers, and much more. It is constantly evolving and improving to provide you with the ability to feel what it was like to serve in our nation’s wars and conflicts. It is only through your choice to immerse yourself in the entire experience that you will begin to understand and appreciate how our veterans felt.
