Did you ever think you could get paid for volunteering?
With Operation Second Wind you can; with a minimum 700 hour a year commitment (part-time) you could receive a "living allowance stipend" plus an education award at the end of your service to be use toward student loans or continuing education for doing good work in the community, if you are 55 or older you can even assign the education award to a direct decedent. Bridging AZ is working with Mesa United Way to offer part time positions. It works like the PeaceCorps but you would work on domestic issues right here in Mesa Arizona.
This is a 1 year commitment (about 16 hours per week). You will receive a living allowance stipend of about $100 per week plus an $2,000.00 education award at the end of the year of service.
