Join Volunteer Land Stewards to care for local Conservation Areas

Join us as we kick off the Trail Tuesday season with a FREE Trail Fundamentals Workshop led by Valerie Bader, Trail Project Manager from Trail Pittsburgh. With skills and know-how gained from working on trail projects across the country, Val will help participants gain a deeper understanding of sustainable trails while we hike sections of the Dead Man's Hollow trail system and tackle a few maintenance projects to put our new skills to use. All are welcome!

During the workshop, expect to:

  • Learn the basics of trail construction.
  • Discover how sustainable trails are designed.
  • Perfect your trail maintenance skills.
  • Develop trail assessment skills: troubleshoot problems and make easy fixes in the field.

ALT is a land trust that conserves green space in communities in Allegheny County and its environs. As a land trust we focus our attention on properties that provide three major benefits: biodiversity, water quality and protection and scenic beauty. The majority of our lands are open to the public for passive recreation 365 days a year. We manage and enhance these properties through volunteer efforts and community support.
