As a Docent for the Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, you will learn about the history of this historic pioneer homestead, the unique owners, and the geology of the Red Rock Canyon area. After completing the training course, you will have the knowledge and interpretive skills required to share this information with visitors to the park. You will give interpretive tours of the ranch house, historic cabins, the nature trails. As a bonus, you will perform your duties in the fantastic setting of the sandstone cliffs of Red Rock Canyon, a geologic wonder that attracts tourists as well as geologists seeking to uncover the mysteries of its formation. You will also meet a highly motivated group of volunteers who are dedicated to making sure that each visitor leaves with a special appreciation of what the park is and means to the history of the Las Vegas Valley. We only require a minimum of four hours of your time each month, but you are welcome to spend as much time volunteering as you wish. There is always something new to learn and explore.
