As a volunteer for the Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, you will learn about the history of this pioneer homestead, the unique owners, and the geology of the Red Rock Canyon area. After completing the training course, you will have the knowledge and interpretive skills required to share this information with visitors to the park. You will give interpretive tours of the ranch house, historic cabins, and the nature trails. As a bonus, you will perform your duties in the fantastic setting of the sandstone cliffs of Red Rock Canyon, a geologic wonder that attracts tourists as well as geologists seeking to uncover the mysteries of its formation. You will also meet a highly motivated group of volunteers who are dedicated to making sure that each visitor leaves with a special appreciation of what the park is and means to the history of the Las Vegas Valley.
NOTE: This opportunity is not for those who just want a one-time experience. You will be expected to complete all of the 6 hour training course and dedicate a minimum of 4 hours each month performing volunteer duties. If you are unable to meet the requirements, it is best not to apply.
