PURPOSE:

To assist the Community Engagement Coordinator in monitoring and tracking patron attendance during all major Detroit67 Project programs and events by collecting and updating data ensuring that reports are prepared and maintained consistently. As an ambassador of the Society’s Detroit67 team, the volunteer will provide support to staff by adhering to museum standards of engagement while interacting with the general public.

DUTIES:

  • Adhere to Society policies and procedures adapted for quality data collection to ensure accuracy and legitimacy of data;
  • Provide summarization of data analytics supporting attendance trends at programs and events;
  • Ensure that information collected at Detroit67 programs and events flows timely and securely to and from the organization and is calculated in a timely fashion;
  • Collect and prepare research and/or complex statistical data for the Community Outreach Coordinator;
  • Maintain and ensure quality control of reports and may assist in development and implementation of measurement systems;
  • Distribute and collect patron participation surveys during events and coordinate data results, as needed;
  • Suggest enhancements to processes as trends in patron participation emerge;
  • Troubleshoot data-related concerns and contact staff immediately to identify inconsistencies, as needed;
  • May provide a variety of professional and administrative services to the project, as assigned.

SUGGESTED SCHEDULING:

Due to the continuous growth of community partnerships involved in this project, as well as the training requirements, we ask that candidates are able to commit to a minimum of 6-12 months of service to the Society and have the ability to volunteer at a minimum of 3-4 programs/events per month during our heavy project season (now through Summer, 2019) and at least one 3-hour office shift on a biweekly basis.

For scheduling purposes, all volunteers will receive advance notice for nearly all Detroit67 programs and events.

There will be a two week trial period for this volunteer position. DHS will coordinate with each volunteer to assign duties that are a best fit for our needs and each individual interest level.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and update reports;
  • Experience operating various applications (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
  • Adhere to policies and procedures for effective data management;
  • Process and results orientated;
  • Ability to prepare and provide records and reports of attendance;
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills;
  • The ability to communicate respectfully with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend assignments;
  • Maintain the ability to work individually and as part of a team environment.

TRAINING & SUPPORT:

Volunteers will receive on-the-job training in the day-to-day operations of Society data tracking policies and procedures.
