Core responsibilities:
- Check in with staff to learn of specific needs
- Keep cat areas clean and tidy
- Engage with visitors
- Socialize with cats
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Comfortable interacting with volunteer-approved cats
- Ability to follow specific instructions from staff
- Ability to sit on floor or in kennel with animals
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
- Enjoys engaging with Humane Society visitors, volunteers, founders, and staff
- Commitment to the philosophy of Humane Society of Southeast Missouri’s practices and policies
- Must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer for this position or accompanied by an adult (18 or older) if under 16
- Regular access to email to receive updates

We are an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of pets and people in Southeast Missouri. We envision a community where every animal has a safe and loving home. Our care and support helps more than 3,500 animals stay off the street each year.
We receive no operating funds from the government or the Humane Society of the United States. We rely on the love and support of our community for volunteers and donations to continue our mission.
