In order to volunteer as a dog walker you must attend volunteer orientation and fill out a volunteer application.
Core responsibilities:
- Check in with staff at the beginning of each shift
- Utilize provided materials to know which dogs can be walked
- Use appropriate gear as needed per pet
- Remain in designated walking areas
- Pick up waste as needed
- Make appropriate notations regarding pets walked, noted behaviors, etc
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Comfortable interacting with volunteer-approved dogs
- Ability to follow specific instructions from staff
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
- Enjoys engaging with Humane Society visitors, volunteers, founders, and staff
- Commitment to the philosophy of Humane Society of Southeast Missouri’s practices and policies
- Must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer for this position or have adult supervision(18 or older) if under 16
- Regular access to email to receive updates

We receive no operating funds from the government or the Humane Society of the United States. We rely on the love and support of our community for volunteers and donations to continue our mission.
