We at Meridian City Hall work with third grade teachers to provide the kids with a history tour of City Hall. These tours are coming up in May of 2017 and again next fall when school resumes.
The tours are fifty minutes in lengh with about a 15 minute break for you when the Public Works department gives their portion of the tour. It is a very basic tour with not a lot of facts to memorize.
We can have you give the tour with another more seasoned volunteer until you are ready to fly solo. Some of our volunteers get into it so much that they dress the part of the "olden days in Meridian'. But that is not a requirement to be a great tour guide.
Tours are generally during the time block of 10 am to 1 pm and on weekdays. Some days you might do two in a row and others just one. The gratitude of the kids makes this a very rewarding volunteer experience.
Call Barbara Hatch for more details and I can e mail you a sample script giving you a better idea of the task. 208 489-0562.
