Position Summary: Saturday Academy IT Support Volunteer works directly with our IT/Operations Associate. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with computers but also ready to learn new tasks that come their way! There are two types of volunteer opportunities 1. At the basic level of support and 2. The second level support is someone who has a deeper understanding and comfort level with computers and electronics.

Basic Support:

  • Sorting cords
  • Labeling
  • Packing laptops into suitcases
  • Data Entry into SalesForce

Qualifications

  • Detail oriented
  • Positive attitude and willing to take initiative
  • Effective listening skills

Second level Support

  • Loading software
  • Site Support
    • Light computer support-laptop setup
    • Assist user login, open web browser
    • Install and connect projector to laptop
    • Software verification
    • Light computer maintenance
      • Delete files, create folders
      • Charge laptops

Qualifications

  • Effective computer skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Can follow simple directions
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Saturday Academy strives to engage all motivated young people, including those from under-represented communities, in hands-on, in-depth learning by connecting them to community experts as educators and mentors.

Description

The mission of Saturday Academy is to engage children through in-depth learning so they may become life-long learners. We provide hands-on classes and camps, afterschool programs, accelerated learning programs for talented and gifted students, and a high school apprenticeship program in science and engineering (ASE). Since it was founded in 1983, SA has served over 165,000 students and currently serves approximately 6,000 students each year. SA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization affiliated with the University of Portland (UP). Instructors need to be experts in their fields so that children see adults as guides to learning and careers.
