Sunday, April 23, 2017

The Tour de Staten Island is a fun-filled, non-competitive bike ride through the neighborhoods and parks of New York City’s greenest borough! Tour volunteers help with course marshaling, set-up, registration and manning our rest stops, and more.

All volunteers will receive a gift of a Tour de Staten Island t-shirt at their shift.

Please contact us at volunteer@transalt.org to sign up!

Help check-in riders and distribute t-shirts. After all riders are checked in and on the route, you’ll pitch in to get our finish festival set up and underway.

Finish Fest Volunteers
Flagship Brewery: 11 am - 4 pm

Greet riders as they complete their pedalfest of Staten Island. Hand out t-shirts, be part of the bike valet team, put up signage and be a smiling face at the TransAlt info table.

Rest Area Volunteers
Freshkills Park (8 am - 12 pm), Historic Richmond Town (8 am - 12:30 pm) OR Great Kills Park (10 am - 2:30 pm)
You’ll be helping riders refuel, and sending them back on the course with a rousing cheer. Expect to hang signs, make peanut butter sandwiches, give high-fives, and more!

Riding Marshals50-mile route marshals: (7 am - 4 pm), 35-mile route marshals (7:30 am - 4 pm). Meet at Flagship Brewery.
You are an experienced cyclist with the ability to fix flats and handle other minor mechanical breakdowns. Please bring your bike and be ready to ride the entire course. Help riders navigate the route, negotiate tricky intersections, fix flats and find their way to rest areas and bike repair stations.

Stationary Marshals7 am - 4 pm, Meet at Flagship Brewery (unless instructed otherwise)
Guide riders through potentially tricky areas of the route. You do not need any prior experience marshaling, but should have access to a bike and be willing to ride it to your marshalling station, which may be a substantial distance from public transit.

Thanks in advance for helping T.A. make this a safe and fun event!
