ESOL/Citizenship Instructor/Tutor

Time Commitment: four to six hours a week

Volunteers needed: 2 people would be ideal

Time/Commitment: The class would be in the evening - Tuesday and Thursdays from 5:30-8:00pm or 6:00-8:30pm , depending on when the volunteers can arrive.

Ideal start date for class:Mid-March - course runs for 10 weeks total

(Start date is a little flexible so please inquire if interested)


  • Tutor students preparing for the naturalization exam

  • Provide instruction in basic ESOL, civics, geography, U.S. History, and interview prep for the N400.

  • Basic lesson planning, is coordination with the already in place curriculum


  • Strong U.S. History, Civics, U.S Geography background

  • Experience with N400 questions, preferred

  • ESOL teaching experience, preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Comfortable teaching multi-level, English learners

  • Ability to speak English fluently, required
